The PT-PR02G protect two links at the same time?
Yes. Its four RJ45 ports form two independent inline protection PoE links.
How should I install it for effective outdoor surge protection?
Mount it within 0.5m of the protected device, fully tighten the waterproof fittings, and connect its grounding terminal with a 2.5mm² wire to an earth ground of 4Ω or less.
I'm planning to set this up right next to my outdoor security camera. The aluminum alloy shell looks tough—can I just bolt it straight onto the outside wall as is, or do I need to cover it up with something?
We wouldn’t recommend leaving it completely exposed to the outdoors. In fact, the manual explicitly states it’s for indoor use only. If you absolutely have to use it outside, you'll need to tuck it inside a waterproof enclosure or box.
We use passive AP. Can this protector handle the juice?
You're completely good to go! The PT-PR01G fully supports non-standard PoE devices. Specifically, the circuitry can handle a maximum input voltage of up to 60Vdc , and it allows a maximum current of 2A when utilizing 4-pair PoE.
I see RJ45 ports on both ends, but the labels just say 'PoE Input or PoE Output'. Which way is 'in' and which way is 'out'? If I accidentally plug it in backward, will it fry my camera or my injector?
Don't worry! Plugging it in backward won't burn out your gear, but to get the absolute best lightning protection, you'll want to follow the setup diagrams. While both ports are identical and have minimal signal loss, a good rule of thumb is to treat the side with the grounding screw terminal as the side closest to your protected device (like your PoE camera or switch).
