How Do We Ensure Reliable Operation of Network Devices in High-Altitude Environments?
In various complex outdoor environments, there is an extremely high demand for both network and power supply.Installing wireless networks and IP cameras has become more challenging.
Recently，An Austrian agent,needed to connect both a Wi-Fi 7 outdoor access point and a Speed Dome IP camera while maintaining high-speed Ethernet transmission and reliable PoE power delivery.
Solution was the PROCET PT-PEX02GB-2-OT Industrial-Grade 2.5G PoE Extender.
Application Background
The installation includes two powered devices:
- Wi-Fi access point (U7 Pro Outdoor)
- Speed Dome camera
They all conform to IEEE 802.3af/at compliant.
The existing PoE source is a 55V, 90W PoE injector, providing sufficient input power for the downstream PoE extension system. Specifically required a dual-output PoE extender so that one incoming PoE connection could support both network devices.
One PoE Input, Two Powered Devices
A major requirement of the project was the ability to connect two PoE devices from a single upstream PoE connection.
The deployment can be arranged as:

This architecture reduces the need to install separate power supplies near each endpoint.
For remote installations, this can simplify cabling while also reducing the number of power components deployed at the outdoor site.
Designed for High-Altitude Outdoor Deployment
Network equipment installed at high-altitude locations may face more demanding operating conditions than equipment deployed in standard indoor environments.
The customer therefore specifically looked for an industrial-grade PoE extender rather than a conventional indoor network extender.
For installations of this type, equipment stability is particularly important because site access may be difficult and maintenance costs can be high.
