Introduction

PT-PTC-D-BT is a Type-C dedicated indoor PoE converter conforming to IEEE802.3 af/at/bt standard, which converts power and data in PoE power supply module to Type-C interface, and can provide data and power for network equipment that does not support PoE. White shell, small and delicate, easy to carry, plug and play.

The purpose of this copy is to explain what PoE is, how to use it, and compare the PT-PTC-D series PoE with the USB-C power and data adapter with other PoE options of your device.

What is PoE?

Power over Ethernet ("PoE") is a network function defined by IEEE 802.3af, 802.3at, and 802.3bt standards. PoE allows Ethernet cables to power network devices through existing data connections.

The main benefits of PoE are:

• Save time and cost - by reducing the time and cost of installing power cables. Network cables do not require qualified electricians to install them and can be placed anywhere.

• Flexibility - No need to connect to a power outlet. Devices such as IP cameras and wireless access points can be placed where they are most needed and easily repositioned when needed.

• Security - POE delivery is intelligent and designed to protect network devices from overloads, insufficient power, or incorrect installation.

• Reliability - POE power comes from a central and universally compatible power supply, rather than a collection of distributed wall adapters. It can be backed up or controlled by an uninterruptible power supply to easily disable or reset the device.

• Scalability - The presence of power on the network means that the installation and distribution of network connections are simple and effective.

Some common applications of PoE include:

• Voice over IP ("VoIP") phones. Using PoE means that only one phone needs to be connected to a wall outlet.

• IP Camera - PoE allows networked surveillance cameras to be placed in difficult to reach locations without using a power outlet, just running an Ethernet cable.

• Wireless – Wireless access points are usually PoE compatible, allowing WiFi networks to be kept away from power outlets.

Who is it aimed at?

It is specially designed for mobile phones, iPads, laptops, etc. with Type-C interface. The output power is 23W and supports a transmission rate of 10/100Mbps. Cat5e/Cat6 network cable transmits Ethernet data to power supply equipment, with an effective use distance of 100 meters.

It is designed to allow the operation of the "powered device" through a single PoE enabled network cable. "Power receiving equipment" refers to a small, low power consumption equipment. Typically, these devices require a power connection as well as a network or Internet connection. The cost of longer network cables is relatively low, and the equipment is allowed to be 100m away from the network switch. In contrast, if used for data transmission, the USB-C cable can only be a few (<4) meters long,

What is included?

Although the cable is very short, it has a wing screw at one end to plug it into the microchip device. The connector of the PoE port has two LED indicators to display the valid power connection and data transmission.

Because the device is designed to be "plug and play". Specifically, there is no need to install the drive on the equipment.

What else do I need?

To use this device, you need a PoE switch or a separate PoE power supply. The power that PT-PTC-D series can provide depends on the PoE power supply type. We correspond to the af/at/bt protocol, with a maximum power of 60W. At the same time, the product is "indoor only" equipment, without IP67 grade. For outdoor applications, such as CCTV cameras, it is necessary to install them in a suitable weatherproof container. Due to the design, there is a connector at each end. The IP class container requires at least 91mm X 51mm X 18.5mm internal dimensions, which may limit your choice.
