PoE Power Supply for Wi-Fi 6

Jul. 27, 2022

We are in an era of rapid development of wireless communication and remote computing technology. For applications such as smart city systems, monitoring systems, etc., we are constantly pursuing high-speed network communication. With the maturity of 5G technology, Wi-Fi 6 has become the technical standard for high-speed Internet of Things communication in commercial office buildings and residential parks.

What is WiFi 6? WiFi 6 is known as 802.11ax, In short, it is a faster Wi-Fi with better upload and download speeds, combined with 5G technology to expand network capacity. WI-FI 6's maximum bandwidth can reach up to 9.6Gbps, and supports MU-MIMO and OFDMA in both uplink and downlink. The interpretation of the image of wifi6 is like a multi-lane highway, with multiple entries and multiple exits at the same time, and there will be no traffic congestion when connecting multiple devices, while wifi5 is more like a single lane, one in and one out, alternating back and forth. The mature development of 5G and Wi-Fi 6 technologies makes construction and use very convenient and fast. The flexible OFDMA technology of Wi-Fi 6 supports the wireless access of various devices such as smart home LED lighting systems and smart monitoring systems.

For better signal transmission, the ideal location for a Wi-Fi 6 access point (AP) is elevated or outdoors, where there are few or no AC sockets. PoE (power over ethernet) technology comes into play. The advantage of the PoE power lies in the flexibility of its installation and arrangement, and only one network cable provides both network and power. Therefore, when building a Wi-Fi 6 network system, there is no need to worry about the power sockets of the APs, they can be used indoors, outdoors, or anywhere you want. One thing we need to notice is that because of the ultra-large data rates in the wifi6 system, the PoE switches or PoE injectors that provide power for wi-fi 6 should also support 5G or 10G network speed.
